Legio Astraman Reaver Titan “Tempestus Ferri” is the engine I’ve been eagerly looking forward to painting for the Morning Stars. It draws inspiration from a classic photograph of a Morning Stars maniple featured in the original Codex Titanicus from the late ’80s.

The Legio Astraman Dire Wolf ‘Umbra Ignis’ is based on the original Forgeworld kit. Recently, it was announced that these would be replaced by an all-new plastic kit for Legions Imperialis. However, since I already have a few of them in hand, I decided to add it to a fledgling

Ferrum Vulcanos Legio Astraman Nemesis class Warbringer, and the first war engine I’ve built for the “Morning Stars”. This was a palette tester that I did to try to match as closely as possible the artwork from the Titanicus campaign book; “Crucible of Retribution”.

As this was my first warlord kit I spent a lot more time working out the sub-assemblies and best strategy for painting. I think broadly it is worth treating breaking the kit down into separate torso and leg assemblies, separate weapon arms and head. The armour plates I also treated separately as it allowed

Legio Mortis, or to give them their cognomen the “Death’s Heads” are probably the most well-known of the legions who turned traitor.

Victorix Magna is the second Warlord added to my Legio Mortis maniple and is built using the alternative kit.
